Here's whats up!

Nothing neww happening.

What type of Hardware is Elendor?

We are running ElendorMush on a brand new 333 Mhz Celeron with 512 meg of RAM and a good sized hard drive. On this platform we are running Linux.

What is the status of the machine?

5/6/02 -- Its been a while since any real changes were made to the machine. Today I installed a brand new box that is much faster and nicer than the old one. We should be good to go for quite a while.

12/3/99 AM -- I have gotten the machine up and running again. We're now just waiting on Lukthil to check the db and restart the mush.

12/2/99 AM -- I have a floppy boot set ready and will be working on the machine again a little later this morning. Lukthil & I will be in conversation on my temp mush to try to bring the machine back up. Watch here for further details or stop by the temp mush.

12/1/99 PM -- We tried to move the boot over to the new drive and now can't boot thge machine at all. I'm working on a floppy boot set of disks to use to get the machine back up so we can edit the pertinent files.

12/1/99 AM -- Well, its not the OS. The boot drive is dying. Over the next few days I will be setting up the new drive that was housing just the mush to be the boot drive as well. Keep checking back for news. I've put up a mush on dana.ucc.nau.edu port 4201 for people to come and ask me questions/hang out on. There are only a few rooms and the mush won't be developed at all. Hang out in the lounge and talk if you would like.

11/29/99 The OS is in bad shape. Over the Thanksgiving weekend the machine locked up and it looks like the result is a hammered OS and possibly bad boot drive. We don't have a backup of the boot device so we may have to load from scratch. We may want to think about getting a tape drive unit to put in the machine to do backups. No estimated uptime yet.

10/4/99 Well, one of the admins screwed up and applied patches to the kernel without alerting the site admin. The machine is down and out for the count right now. No estimate on uptime. Also, the new power supply that was sent was the wrong form factor and we're trying to get a replacement.

9/1/99 New roputers and other equipment were installed at NAU to give better bandwidth on out T1's.

07/99 We installed a 1.6 gig hard drive in the machine and put the mush code and database on the new drive. The system software resides on the original drive.

6/11/97 We had a failure of the CPU fan which resulted in the chip getting flacky. Power was restored. It also appears that the power supply may be going.

4/24/97 The ram was uipgraded to 128 Meg.

4/8/97 Someone managed to cut the main AT&T fiber to Northern AZ and so we lost all long distance and internet connectivity to the outside world.

Plans for the future...

We are currently working on setting up anonymous ftp for people to obtain general information about the mush. We'll keep you posted.
